1951年，驻守在新疆天山的解放军某师，接到上级命令，让他们开发边疆的生产建设。在侦察科长杨发带领下，一支勘察水源的水利勘察队向戈壁滩出发了。他们发现了一处城镇遗迹和一条干涸的河道。杨发和女技术员认为一定能在这附近找到水源，而工程师李辉则认为绝不可能有水源。勘察队分成了两组。杨发与张珍、大勇、小朱一组上冰峰找水源，李辉和其他人一组测量土地。在找水源过程中杨发等人遇到了重重艰难险阻，他和张珍在共同的工作中相爱了，后来，他们遇上了山洪，杨发和小朱被洪水卷走，险些丧命。后来，在老猎人帮助下，他们终于发现了水源。师长根据杨发的勘探结果，采取措施炸开了塌山，水终于被引到了荒芜的戈壁滩上，戈壁滩上从此有了勃勃生机。。The story behind the song "Who Let the Dogs Out," which became a hit for the Bahamian group Baha Men in 1998.。6 out of 7 people found the following comment useful.
