He is regarded as one of the greatest auteurs of 20th century cinema, from "The Apu Trilogy" in the 50's to his last film in 1991 "Agantuk" (The Stranger).。本片改编自荷兰同名小说，讲述一个年轻男子着迷于一块从天上掉下来的石头。他一边穿越北欧的极端环境，一边在寻找、犹豫和痛苦。他只能在疯狂的边缘找到救赎。。
