Somewhere in Myanmar is a forest rich in amber and controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). Most of its inhabitants work in a mine, digging the earth night and days in the hope of finding the precious ore that will get them out of poverty. But on top of the excruciating hardship of the work, they also have to fear an attack from the army.。该片集中反映我国改革开放四十年的重要成果，节目通过百姓的梦想、奋斗、工作、情感、观念等亲身经历的故事，展现了我国四十年的沧桑巨变。为了记录最真实动人、最具有代表性的人物故事，摄制组行走了2万多公里，采访了1700多人。他们面对镜头，真情讲述了自己的故事——从思想观念到生活方式，从风花雪月到衣食住行……四十年，一个人从襁褓走到了不惑；四十年，改革开放的大门打开，翻天覆地的变化汹涌而来！。
