《张灯》的故事起源于1000多年前的仙居县，作为主线的“针刺无骨花灯”非常稀罕，因灯身没有骨架，全灯由几十片绣花针刺成的各种花纹图案的纸片粘贴而成，古朴典雅、玲珑剔透、轻巧能飞，而深受人们喜爱。作为张氏无骨花灯手艺唯一传人的主人公张一之(刘忠虎饰)，因为12年前的一场事故不再制作花灯了，而他未曾谋面的孙子却酷爱花灯，这“一个要学，一个不肯教”，一老一少的碰撞让影片充满了趣味。。The film is based loosely around events in December 1995 that culminated in the murders of three drug dealers in Rettendon, Essex, UK.
