1996年全球陷入奥林匹克的狂热中。田径场上、泳池边等等10种以上的竞技，创下一个接着一个的世界纪录。人人疯狂的传递这些消息、这些创下远超过人类的常识范围的记录的选手，被称赞为「超人类」。这时，没有医生执照的黑杰克的电话录音机里，常常听见既未留下性名也未告知病状的女生留言：请务必与我连络，我会为医生准备好空白支票。我的电话号码是….. 两年后，「超人类」的出现不仅只限于体育界，音乐、绘画、文学、乃至于物理、科学遍布各个领域，持续于日常生活的话题中独占遨头。而这些消息也传到对世事向来漠不关心的怪医黑杰克的耳中。此时，接到从伦敦郊外打来的国际电话。 这名女子叫乔‧凯洛儿。她是圣‧乔爱儿研究中心的主任研究员。她也是那通电话的委托人。乔拜托黑杰克对圣‧乔爱儿研究中心协助帮忙，但总觉得有其中危险四伏的黑杰克断然拒绝了，可是助手贝贝被他们抓去当人质作为要挟，没办法只有妥协接受了。大规模买地的圣‧乔爱儿研究中心收容因不明原因发病的「超人类」的病患。然而，发病的这些人半数以上全都身亡。 之后，聪明的黑杰克便查出了哪里有问题，从病者的症状中，黑杰克有了初步的假设。从脑下垂体分泌的贺尔蒙-被称为脑内麻药，这种贺尔蒙如果大量分泌的话，会完全的增加集中力、发挥高度的能力。这是因基于某种理由被贺尔蒙异常地持续分泌。全世界被认定为「超人类」的共有1230位。 于是，乔‧凯洛儿便买了一甁酒庆祝，但，黑杰克却不知道红酒里，乔‧凯洛儿加了超人类病患的原缩液!。In this bitingly satirical film Peter Slovan, a continuous source of trouble for the film functionaries of the socialist Slovakia, tackles an evergreen topic – the corruptive effects of power. Barnabáš Kos, a triangle player at a symphonic orchestra, is suddenly promoted to serve as the head of the said institution, even though both he and his superiors deem him completely unfit for the task. Encouraged in equal parts by this unexpected recognition and the servile praise of his colleagues, Kos’s modesty starts to gradually vanish. The erstwhile bashful and aloof percussionist quickly becomes aware of the advantages of his new office, and begins to realise his increasingly ludicrous artistic ambitions. Ultimately, the submissive marionette turns into a source of public humiliation, and his astonishing career finds an abrupt end. Orchestra serves here as a microcosm that grotesquely reflects the absurd and tragicomic mechanisms of the paranoid apparatus of power.
