本剧根据1988年从江苏海安到云南宁蒗彝族自治县支教的优秀教师群体的真实事迹改编，讲述20世纪80年代江苏教师支教云南小凉山的故事，剧中凉海中学的原型为宁海民族中学。 李海从师范毕业，得知父亲李曙明带一批教师到小凉山支教，李海对父亲的选择感到不解。来到泸沽湖畔，困难远远超过李曙明的想象：泥石流冲击、学校工地遭人阻挠、学生基础差--有人打起了退堂鼓，有人写匿名信状告他，妻子积劳成疾离他而去……李海不顾父亲的反对，辞职来到珠海。格格不入的环境、女友的离开让他迷惘徘徊，无奈之下他也来到小凉山。在一段随父支教的难忘经历之后，他发现自己已经离不开小凉山，离不开彝族姑娘阿香了。而此时，李曙光捧着爱人的遗像，也决定永远留在小凉山。。A young woman running a wildlife sanctuary in the Australian outback is in for trouble when she is confronted by three kangaroo hunters.
