位于森林深处有一间专门收容重度身心障碍者的疗养院。曾经获得文学奖的知名作家洋子（宫泽理惠饰），有很长一段时间再也写不出东西来，不得已来到这里工作。她与丈夫昌平（小田切让饰），在一次意外发生后，小心翼翼地经营着两人的婚姻生活。疗养院里的其他职员完全不把身障者当人类看待 ，甚至对身障者施暴作为娱乐，初来乍到的洋子都看在眼里，但即使她向上司提出这些不人道的指控，也是石沉大海。只有跟她同名的年轻同事阳子（二阶堂富美饰）及阿圣（矶村勇斗饰）愿意听她说话。然而阿圣对这个社会忿忿不平，在其他同事越加恶劣及粗暴的行径之下，他心中那股不断增强的正义感与使命感逐渐扭曲，最终引发一起撼动日本社会的事件。。After spending the summer with his mother in Philadelphia, Dawson returns to Capeside and meets a beautiful, outgoing, young woman, named Eve Whitman, on the bus from Philadelphia.
