该片讲述了布兰登在美国军方的“止损”政策下，被强行要求回到伊拉克继续服役，为逃避战争他不得不开始了一段亡命天涯的旅程。。某个不知名小镇，底下水突然被某种神秘物质所污染，进而污染整个镇子的饮用水。村民在不知情的情况下喝了污染水，很快就会变异成嗜血如命的丧尸。他们见人就咬，而被咬过的人也没过多久就变成丧尸的同类。小镇少年吉姆因为日常以可乐作为饮料，所以逃过一劫，但是他的妈妈却被感染。他想方设法带着尚在襁褓中的小妹妹逃出家门，夺路而逃，最终被小镇警察（罗伊·迪普伊 Roy Dupuis 饰）所救。警察尝试找到女儿，可他的女儿早已变成丧尸，对此这位父亲仍不离不弃。与此同时，相关部门全面封锁消息，并且派出两名双胞胎女杀手进入小镇，打算对相关知情者杀人灭口。 恐怖的氛围继续蔓延，幸存者越来越少，求生越来越难……。The Once-Lers are told by the owner that they can sit on the wagon and that it had better not move.
